The U15-U19 teams will play 11v11 and will choose from Premier, Gold, Silver and Bronze Divisions. If the divisions fill at sixteen teams, then each division will be seeded into four 4-team brackets. The team's home playing area and team history will be used to seed the teams. Since we want teams to experience new opponents, we will focus on teams from outside your usual geographic playing area when seeding the brackets.
Teams will play two or three preliminary round games and will be re-bracketed for the playoff rounds. As teams are guaranteed four games, your families should plan on one or two games on Friday and one or two games on Saturday and one game on Sunday. Teams will be scheduled for the early games on Sunday based on their home destination so that teams with long rides home can be finished as early as possible. Depending on the number of teams in each division, some teams will have a non-counting friendly game to play after losing in the playoffs. Teams are expected to play all of their scheduled games.
For the most part, U15-U19 games will be played in West Linn, Wilsonville and Milwaukie. Games may be scheduled at other venues in order to accommodate coaches with two teams and other special scheduling requests.
All coaches, managers and players will receive customized collectible pins. Individual medals will be awarded to all first and second place teams. Consolation medals will be awarded when divisions have the consolation bracket.
All schedules and standings will be available on the internet during the tournament. Standings are generally updated 45 minutes after games have been completed. We encourage all coaches, managers, players and parents to register with the automated notification system that is part of the scheduling software. By registering a cell phone number or an email address, the recipient will receive scores, game change information and other details about their schedules. Directions for registering with this system will be sent out once the schedules have been posted to the internet.
All U15-U19 teams will choose between Premier (premier and gold level teams) and Silver (silver and bronze level teams) Divisions. Teams will be allowed to switch between divisions after registering as long as one of the divisions has not been closed. As a general rule, we do not recommend playing up in age. We recognize that many teams may not have experience outside of their own leagues. If that is the case, please contact Mike Morris (503-317-7576) to discuss the placement of your team.
While our goal is to have the U15 and U16 teams play within their own age groups, the final configuration will depend on the total number of registered teams. If necessary, we will combine age groups within divisions. For example, the premier teams at U15 and U16 would be combined and the silver teams at U15 and U16 would be combined.
The U17-U19 teams will be combined into a single 'super' group. After the preliminary round games, teams in each division will be placed into separate playoff brackets and will play for separate championships. This tournament format allows teams of varying abilities to experience a fun, exciting tournament. Every team will advance to the playoffs with a chance to advance to a championship match for the newly formed playoff divisions.
Premier Division: The number one criteria for entering this divsion is that you participated in your State Cup tournament and had some success. The level of success would vary depending on the size and competitiveness of the state. Competitive varsity level high school teams may find this to be a good fit as they prepare for their high school leagues.
Silver Division: This division would be a good fit for teams that have participated in statewide leagues and may have had limited success. It is also a good fit for top teams in district or select leagues. Junior varsity and freshman level teams may want ton consider playing in the silver division as they prepare for their high school season. True recreational teams should play in the silver division.
Remember that teams will be re-bracketed after the preliminary rounds so you will be assigned a new bracket with teams that have a similar win/loss record.
